Depending on the project's requirements, she partners with strategists, graphic designers, type designers, motion designers, copywriters, web developers, illustrators and photographers to create innovative, memorable and transformative work.

Profile

A globally recognised and awarded creative with over two decades of leadership in design, Astrid studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and the Royal College of Art.

She directed her studio in Barcelona for ten years before co-founding the design consultancy Atlas with Pablo Martin. Notable projects include the redesign of Elephant magazine (where she was also a contributing editor), the visual identity of the Barcelona Design Museum, the brand monograph ‘The Walking Society’ for Camper and the branding for Jijibaba, the menswear fashion label founded by Jasper Morrison and Jaime Hayon. In 2015, Atlas won a D&AD pencil for the most awarded design agency in the world (more about Atlas in Eye magazine).

Astrid was invited to join Pentagram as a partner in 2018, designing brand identities and editorial projects for clients including Vitra, Tate, Phaidon, Laurence King, MACK, Acciona, Cahiers du Cinéma, National Portrait Gallery, PORT magazine and the Stauffer Center for Strings. She founded her own practice in 2022, working with brands, artists, curators, editors, architects and institutions.

Passionately committed to designing a better world, Astrid works with an inquisitive approach, seeking the unexpected. She has launched and curated several projects including EnsaimadArt and the poster campaign for the Laus Awards. More recently, she initiated the multidisciplinary collaborative project Huguet x Pentagram, which explores new methodologies for design by blending traditional craftsmanship with digital techniques.

An active member of the global design community, Astrid has written numerous articles for design publications. She regularly judges international design competitions and gives lectures and workshops around the world. She is a Visiting Lecturer at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and the Royal College of Art, where she currently teaches an Editorial Design course alongside Adrian Shaughnessy.

Her work has has been widely published and has received over 150 international awards including D&AD, the Type Directors Club of New York (TDC), the Society of Publication Designers (SPD), the Art Directors Club of Europe (ADC*E), the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD), Design Week Awards, the Art Directors Club of New York, Graphis and Creative Review’s The Annual.

Astrid has been a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) since 2010. She is a Trustee at St. Bride, forms part of the Advisory Board of the Scuola Politecnica di Design (Milano) and is the President of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD).
